Dear Secretary Mnuchin:
Our companies can be released from the conservatorship immediately by the return of the sum of the illegally-swept profits of $301b and the $42b settlement funds collected from banks, since the net worth sweep has been ruled as unlawful by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal. And the $189b so-called rescue funds coercively infused into our companies during the mortgage crisis twelve years ago can be repaid by an installment plan arranged after their release.
By freeing the GSEs back into the hands of their shareholders, you are not only righting the decade-long wrong but also be remembered as a hero in American history for safeguarding the rule of law and for making America great again by helping keep the housing market healthy and sound--the purpose of what they were created by our founding fathers.
Not much has been achieved since you pledged to release these two mortgage giant before being confirmed as the Secretary of the Treasury four years ago. This is the last chance to fulfill what you had wished and promised before the end of your term. Please do what is right in your power for the country and its people you love before you leave that important position. Gratefully yours.
